Political scientist John Ruggie has announced his plans following his six-year tenure as UN special representative on business and human rights, and will join Foley Hoag. Ruggie will work to help multinationals navigate the Guiding Principles and apply them to their global business practices in his capacity as advisor at the law firm. Having had his final report to the UN ratified this summer, the Harvard professor, who will continue in his academic posts, will be stationed in the Boston-based company’s CSR practice, offering legal guidance on human rights impacts both nationally and internationally.
