A large US food distributor has bought a waste recycling company in a bid to reduce its environmental impact.

US Foodservice now owns WVO Industries, a company specializing in the collection of removed water, food particles and other impurities from waste vegetable oil for use as biofuel. This biofuel will now be used to run hundreds of US Foodservice delivery trucks in its division in Lexington, South Carolina.
