At least 25 per cent of the directors of FTSE 100 companies should be women by 2015, a UK government-commissioned review of female board representation has concluded. The report by Lord Davies of Abersoch, a member of the House of Lords, recommended that companies set a 2015 target and an interim 2013 goal in line with the 25 per cent figure to ensure the number of female board members is increased. It also urged chief executives to announce the goals within six months. However, Davies fell short of recommending government intervention to impose targets. At present about 12 per cent of FTSE 100 company directors are women.
