Law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer saw an 87 per cent increase in annual staff hours devoted to volunteering and pro bono activities during 2009/10. Annual hours devoted to pro bono activities went up from 16,409 to 42,559 in 2009/10. Most pro bono work was on four themes: increasing access to justice, promoting human rights, homelessness, and improving the skills of young and disadvantaged people.
