A six-month pilot project has been launched to improve working conditions in the Bangladesh garment industry.
The project, which will be jointly administered by Social Accountability International and the International Textile Garment & Leather Workers’ Federation, will, among other things, work with local industry representatives and worker organizations in the country to improve fire safety systems.
The project organizers say fire safety is ‘one of the most pressing concerns about the Bangladeshi apparel sector’.
