A group of telecoms network operators is researching the health impacts of mobile phones in the first study of its kind. The Cohort Study on Mobile Communications (Cosmos) will look into the implications of mobile use for cancer, dementia, depression and other conditions. In the UK, the four biggest networks – O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone – will invite 2.4 million customers to participate. The project, also being run in Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands and Sweden, will track 250,000 people.
