Three companies have recently joined the International Council on Mining and Metals, a chief executive-led industry group that tackles social and environmental issues in mining. They are: Canada-based Goldcorp, which employs more than 10,000 people worldwide; Australia-based MMG, which operates in Australia and Laos; and African Rainbow Minerals, a South African niche mining company. The council now has 19 corporate members.
