Almost three-quarters of corporate executives say their company has not developed a clear business case for sustainability. A global study by The Boston Consulting Group found just over 70 per cent of the 1500 executives it quizzed felt their company had not adequately defined the business benefits of tackling sustainability issues – even though 92 per cent believed sustainability issues are having, or will soon have, a material impact on their business. The study, conducted for the management journal MIT Sloan Management Review, says difficulties in modelling the business case are a significant barrier to encouraging decisive corporate action on sustainability.
