The first SRI index covering companies in the Middle East and North Africa is to be set up this year by Standard & Poor’s. Criteria will be developed with input from a Dubai-based think tank, the Hawkamah Institute for Corporate Governance. The index is expected to cover 600 listed companies in 11 countries: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia.
