A multinational cleaning company has tripled its emissions reduction commitment as part of a programme with an NGO. JohnsonDiversey, which operates in more than 175 countries, has increased its 2013 target for cutting greenhouse gas emissions from eight to 25 per cent and is investing $14million (£8.3m, €9.4m) in the effort. The company made its eight per cent pledge when it joined the Climate Savers programme, which is run by WWF, and is now the first of the partnership’s 22 members to increase its commitment substantially. JohnsonDiversey estimates the change will cut its costs by $32m and aims to achieve its goal through emissions reductions in all its activities, not simply through technological changes or carbon offsetting.
