UK broadcaster Sky has signed a three-year agreement with WWF to preserve trees in the Amazon rainforest. Sky Rainforest Rescue is aimed at protecting three million hectares in Brazil, preserving an estimated one billion trees. Sky and WWF will work with the Acre state government to create economic incentives for local communities that help to make the trees worth more alive than dead. Sky is seeking donations, which it has pledged to match pound-for-pound up to a £4million ($6.6m) target.
