A pan-European boycott of a Turkish textiles factory has been called off after the company agreed to work with trade unions.

The Clean Clothes Campaign, a European alliance of charities and non-governmental organizations, dropped its year-long boycott of the DESA leather factory over alleged supression of workers’ rights after an agreement signed by the company and the Deri Is union.

The agreement states that:
  • DESA will recognize Deri Is as the single authorized union at the factory
  • DESA will not adopt ‘positive or negative attitudes towards employees in union matters’
  • a number of dismissed workers will be reinstated
  • all employees will receive a document stating that unionization is a constitutional right.
Protests against the company had been organized outside a Prada store  in London earlier this year.
