Societe General has been judged this year’s leading brokerage firm for socially responsible investment research. It came ahead of UBS and Cheuvreux, who finished second and third respectively in the annual Thomson Reuters Extel and Uksif survey of SRI research. A study carried out in conjunction with the awards found that 32 per cent of buyside analysts – who provide research and recommendations exclusively for their own funds – are now attributing five per cent or more of total commission spend on SRI, compared with less than one in ten in 2005.
