CarbonNeutral, the international carbon offset and carbon management company, has opened a Singapore office. Its first local clients are the American Chamber of Commerce of Singapore and the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore, which have also become the region’s first organizations to receive certifications from CarbonNeutral head office.
The Singapore base, led by managing director Rani Virdee, will work with companies and organizations to reduce their carbon footprint through internal efficiencies and carbon offsets.
Virdee said: ‘Carbon management is a significant issue to Asia Pacific because environmental credentials are becoming a higher priority for leading companies in the region. Carbon offset is a valuable tool enabling businesses to counterbalance each tonne of carbon dioxide they produce with a tonne saved by a validated emissions reduction project.
CarbonNeutral was established more than a decade ago and now has offices in London, New York and San Francisco. It has pioneered climate change mitigation and has worked with nearly 200 carbon offset projects on six continents. It has served more than 300 clients, including Avis Europe, BSkyB, Barclays, Expedia and Simmons & Simmons, and thousands of small to medium-sized companies.
