More than 40 companies and non-governmental organizations have now joined the Health and Business Roundtable Indonesia, which has the backing of the Ford motor company and was formed with the aim of improving workplace and community health.
Members exchange information and ideas on tackling health issues such as HIV/Aids, tuberculosis, malaria, and maternal and child health – as well as health-related matters including the provision of clean water. They discuss ways of forming partnerships with one another and with local government to ensure sustainable services and to create health promotion programmes.
Half-day meetings every three months feature members’ presentations on the work being done. They emphasize particularly how partnerships can make health resources available to more women.
The roundtable is part of a two-year project funded by the Ford Foundation.
