A UK government advisory body has urged the Lord Chancellor to make it easier for class action lawsuits to be taken against businesses. The Civil Justice Council says encouraging more class actions would benefit ‘individual citizens, businesses and society as a whole’. It believes holding companies to account for their failures ‘promotes competition and market efficiency’. The government will consider the proposals.
