Siemens has taken the unusual step of claiming damages from 11 senior executives implicated in the company’s bribery scandal.

It has also suggested that it intends to pursue damages against a number of lower-ranking executives and managers alleged to have been involved in the irregular activity at its telecoms unit between 2003 and 2006.

The affair has so far cost Europe’s largest engineering business €201million ($285m, £143m) and with US regulators involved, further costs are likely.
