Six multinationals have agreed to put pressure on their suppliers to report publicly on their carbon footprints. Cadbury Schweppes, Imperial Tobacco, Nestlé, Procter & Gamble, Tesco and Unilever will ask suppliers to report their greenhouse gas emissions, reduction targets and climate change strategies using a questionnaire from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a group of 315 institutional investors with more than $41trillion (£20tn) in assets under management. They will operate under the banner of the Supply Chain Leadership Collaboration, formed by CDP.
