Businesses and civil society bodies have formed the Bangladesh Partnership Forum to promote awareness of the value of sustainable development partnerships in creating stability.
The organization, formally set up at an event in Dhaka attended by more than 50 business leaders, follows a six-month skills training project led by the Partnering Initiative, a global programme of the International Business Leaders’ Forum (IBLF). The project had been requested by Katalyst, a Bangladeshi group that promotes small and medium-sized enterprises.
The Bangladesh forum is aimed at building inter-organizational partnerships by connecting companies with public and non-governmental bodies to create mutually beneficial social, economic and environmental programmes.
The IBLF has been at work in Bangladesh since the mid-1990s. Rajiv Pradhan of Swisscontact, a vocational training charity that was involved in starting up Katalyst, said the new forum would try to facilitate the development of CSR-related partnerships throughout the country.
