Three Asia Pacific representatives have been appointed to the Global Reporting Initiative’s Stakeholder Council.
Aditi Haldar, of the Confederation of Indian Industry, has been appointed from the business sector, while Ambreen Waheed, of Pakistan’s Responsible Business Initiative, has been chosen from among the civil society organizations. The third new Asia Pacific member is Australian Stella Whittaker, of the environment and climate change department of the New South Wales state government, representing the mediating institutions.
The 60-member Stakeholder Council has several important roles in the running of the Global Reporting Initiative, the independent worldwide multi-stakeholder network. It votes-in the board, debates policy and makes recommendations to the directors. The organization calls the council members its ‘eyes and ears’.
