Geneva University is introducing a CSR diploma for business leaders in January.

The Certificate of Advanced Studies in Corporate Social Responsibility is for executives wishing to ‘improve and refine their skills’, and for those wishing to enter the corporate responsibility field from non-governmental organizations, government institutions or international organizations, and postgraduate students.

Non-financial reporting, ethics codes and ranking systems are among topics in the eight-module course, along with skills training, which was an important part of the UK’s CSR Academy, now in abeyance.

The lecturers include Ernst Ligteringen, director of the Global Reporting Initiative, Adrian Payne, British American Tobacco’s former head of CSR, and Simone de Colle, professor at Trento University, Italy.

The diploma will be taught in English in two-and-a-half-day sessions each month for a period of six months, with students having to complete all the sessions and write a thesis.

Registration closes on 30 November. Participants must have a university degree or equivalent, but this condition can be waived for those with ‘significant experience’.
