China is being encouraged to redouble its efforts to improve its
environment so that its sudden economic growth can be sustainable.
The call comes from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which says it shares widespread concerns about China’s worsening environment. The OECD wants state and territorial governments in the country to beef up their enforcement of environmental policies and to increase and diversify public and private sources of environmental finance.
The OECD reminds the Beijing government that improving environmental policies would benefit China and offer a positive example to other countries.
