More than 1000 businesses in England signed a commitment last month to act on climate change. Most of the companies, mainly small- and medium-sized enterprises, will appoint a board-level representative to develop ‘firm carbon reduction plans’ with targets and will work with suppliers to minimize emissions along their supply chains. The businesses signed up at the behest of Business in the Community, which invited them to attend a May Day Summit on climate change held at ten locations throughout England.
