Chemicals company Bayer is teaming up with the World Health
Organization to provide free drugs to combat chagas disease in Latin
America for the next five years. Chagas is a potentially fatal
parasitic infection transmitted by blood-sucking insects that affects
up to 18 million people. Bayer will supply 2.5 million tablets of its
drug Lampit to be used in the region.
