The Marine Stewardship Council has become one of ten organizations to receive $1million (£500,000) from the Skoll Foundation to further its work in ‘social entrepreneurship’. The council, which encourages sustainable fishing, received the money from a $10m Skoll award fund for 2007. Others to receive cash include Vérité, the research body that works with multinationals to monitor their supply chains’ social and environmental performance.
