A book is to be issued by the Malaysian government to guide government-linked companies in practising effective CSR.
The publication, to be called the Silver Book, is part of a series intended to create a culture of integrity in the private sector.
Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz, a minister in the prime minister’s department, said: ‘The primary aim of the Silver Book would be to create companies that practise integrity and those that place emphasis on the welfare of the people.’
Every state will set up an integrity institute to carry out programmes related to CSR. This, said Nazri, was aimed at ensuring the integrity culture at all levels of society.
Nazri added that the government’s policy of emphasizing ethical business practices and CSR was aimed at eradicating bribery, corruption and abuse of power. This in turn would make Malaysia more competitive and attractive to foreign investors.
