Mervyn King is to be the new chair of the Global Reporting Initiative board from 1 January. King, a former judge of the South African Supreme Court, chaired the South African Institute of Directors' corporate governance committees, which in 1994 issued the King Report on corporate governance. He will succeed Judy Henderson.
