Companies in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland have signed a voluntary charter to combat pollution.
The initiative, from the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and the Business Coalition on the Environment, has so far attracted 206 signatories, including Hong Kong Electric and CLP Power, which are blamed by some as the main source of the area's air pollution.
The Clear Air Charter has the support of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Guangdong Association of Environmental Protection Industry.
Members are committed to publish annual figures on energy and fuel consumption and total emissions of air pollutants.
The charter is part of a bigger initiative by the chamber and the coalition to tackle the air pollution that is worrying members of the public and the area's tourists.
