Friends of the Earth is focusing its latest fundraising campaign on clause 156 of the UK’s Company Law Reform Bill which would require directors to consider social and environmental issues when deciding policy. The pressure group is telephoning current and lapsed supporters to tell them it urgently needs funds for its campaign to retain clause 156, which is under threat from some business interests and Conservative Party opposition (EP7, issue 10, p1). Voting on the Bill in the House of Lords will begin this month or in May.
