In a further sign that companies are taking notice of shareholder resolutions relating to social and environmental matters, resolutions filed by the US-based Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility have been withdrawn after the targeted companies said they would investigate the issues raised. Insurer Chubb pledged to produce a sustainability report, energy company Emerson to amend its policies on discrimination based on sexual orientation, and Monsanto ‘made progress’ on amending its code of conduct to include a human rights policy.
