Telecoms companies have combined with the International Telecommunication Union to increase telephone access in developing countries. Founding partners of Connect the World include Alcatel, Huawei, Infosys, Intel, Microsoft and Telefonica, whose chief executives have all endorsed its goal of improving infrastructure through partnerships.
