A social auditing company, ES-Compliance, opened for business in El Salvador last month, focusing on the country's assembly plants which supply Adidas, Gap, Nike and other US brands. The company offers audits based on standards developed by the non-profit Independent Monitoring Group of El Salvador. ES-Compliance enters the auditing market at a time when El Salvador's garment industry is beginning to lose jobs to cheaper labour in China.
