The Malaysian government has been asked to offer tax incentives to companies willing to hire reformed drug addicts. The Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation, which made the request, said the scheme could be similar to one offered to companies employing disabled people in the country.

Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, the foundation vice-chairman, said tax incentives could encourage the private sector to employ drug-free addicts and help them back into the mainstream. 'Many of them return to drug addiction due to depression after failing to get jobs and being rejected by society,' he said.
