The technology company Motorola has won two CSR awards for its activities in China. The company's donations of RMB30million ($3.7m, £1.9m) to the Hope Project, which supports the education of poor children, were among the initiatives that qualified it for the Best Corporate Citizenship Practice Award in a campaign by the 21st Century Newspaper Group last year.
The donations spread over ten years have established 72 Chinese primary schools, where 12,000 children are now being educated. For seven years the company has also offered training courses to more than 4,000 managers in 1,000 state-owned companies.
Motorola's second award is that of the 2004 Most Influential Multinational in China, given by a group of media and research companies. Aspects of Motorola's activities that earned it the award included internal processes, human resources policy, leadership, corporate culture and crisis management.
