An Opinion Leader Research poll commissioned by the Corporate Culture consultancy has found that 70 of 100 UK opinion leaders questioned believed the primary purpose of business should be to create products and services that customers value, and that shareholder value would then follow. Only nine agreed that the primary purpose of business should be to make a profit for shareholders. The remainder had no view on the matter. The research was carried out in March among leading figures in business,
the City, the media, politics and civil society.
