The China Business Leaders' Forum (CBLF) has been formed with an emphasis on business transparency, guiding managers on transparent trading, exchanging knowledge and information, and helping the Beijing government to formulate and implement business laws.

The forum was set up by Renmin University of China, which hosted the inauguration, and the London-based Prince of Wales International Business Leaders' Forum (IBLF), a non-profit business organization.

Peter Brew, the IBLF's corporate policy and practice director, said: 'The launch of CBLF recognizes the growing awareness of businesses in China of the importance of improving transparency and business standards and the commitment of the Chinese business authorities to strengthen the environment within which business operates.'

The CBLF's action programme for the first three years will be funded by the UK foreign ministry's Global Opportunities Fund and a group of international companies. The CBLF is expected during that time to develop into an organization financed by its members.
