Office products company Office Depot has formed an alliance with three conservation groups under which it has agreed a five-year plan to develop sustainable forestry and biodiversity policies for its suppliers.

The US-based company, which is one of the world’s biggest sellers of paper, says it will spend $2.2 million (£1.2m) developing ‘standards and tools’ needed to reduce the environmental footprint of its forest and paper products’ suppliers. It has signed the deal with NatureServe, Conservation International, and The Nature Conservancy.
