Three of the largest food and drink producers now have a clear policy rejecting the use of genetically modified foodstuffs, according to the oekom research and rating agency.

In a study of 32 of the world’s biggest food firms, it found that Carlsberg, Numico, and SABMiller, all of which have a strong presence in Europe, specifically state they want to exclude genetically modified organisms from their products altogether. Oekom warns that not having a clear policy on GMOs could backfire, given the general antipathy to their use in Europe.
