Bertrand Collomb, chairman of building materials company Lafarge, has started his two-year elected chairmanship of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. He succeeds Shell’s Sir Philip Watts, who had chaired the coalition of 170 companies since 2002. The election came before Watts stood down as chairman of Royal Dutch/Shell after the company cut its proved reserves.
