GRI considers AA1000 link-up

The Global Reporting Initiative is mulling plans to link its reporting guidelines to the AA1000 assurance standard, a framework for report verification.

GRI chief executive Ernst Ligteringen has discussed the idea at a meeting in the US with Simon Zadek, chief executive of the Institute of Social and Ethical Accountability, which created AA1000. Zadek said: ‘We see the need to link a sustainable assurance standard with a suitable reporting standard, and the GRI is the game in town.’
