Two high street retailers have joined the Ethical Trading Initiative, which brings together companies, non-governmental bodies and unions to set up supply chain monitoring programmes. The recruitment of Boots (chemists) and WH Smith (newsagents) signals the beginning of ETI’s expansion outside its traditional base of food and clothing companies (EP4, issue 10).
