Chiquita scoops reporting award

Two food companies are the joint winners of the first US Sustainability Reporting Awards.

Ice cream makers Ben & Jerry’s and banana company Chiquita shared the ‘outstanding sustainability reporting’ award, which was set up by the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

The awards attracted only 19 entries but the organizers say this will rise next year as awareness of their existence grows. Similar awards have been running in the UK for the last ten years and for six years in mainland Europe.
