The Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS) is to become the first UK institutional investor to make public its voting record record at annual general meetings. CIS, which has around £24billion ($38bn) under management, is to reveal how it has voted on resolutions at more than 800 company meetings where it has made its views known so far this year. The information will be posted on its website. Voting at annual meetings is part of CIS’s responsible shareholding programme, which involves engaging with companies on issues such as human rights.
