Siemens makes gender pledge

The telecommunications and technology company Siemens has publicly committed itself to employing more women.

The German-based group, which has 484,000 employees in 50 countries and a turnover of £53billion ($76bn), makes the pledge in its second corporate citizenship report – but sets no targets.

Women currently make up 26 per cent of the workforce, a figure that Siemens claims is ‘average for comparable corporations in the same industry sector’.
