Pirelli has won a ‘commitment to social responsibility award’ from BT for its work on the environment. The new category, which has been added to BT’s annual ‘investing in excellence’ awards given to ‘outstanding suppliers’ of the UK telecoms company, went to Pirelli for pioneering methods of installing fibre cables that make less use of scarce materials. This has helped BT save more than £7million ($10m) a year.
