Guardian Newspapers has won the ‘corporate community involvement newcomer’ award for its work with schools in London under the Lord Mayor of London’s Dragon Awards scheme.

Around 40 Guardian employees take part in mentoring schemes at two schools and the publisher has also donated £50,000 ($72,000) plus management time to develop a language teaching facility.

Two law firms won other Dragon awards – Herbert Smith for staff volunteer projects and Allen & Overy for its support of education in south London.
