Vogele commits itself to SA8000

The Swiss clothes retailer Vogele has become a signatory to the SA8000 trading standard.

The firm, which has 692 stores in Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland and had a turnover last year of £641million ($942m), is the ninth signatory to the standard, which commits members to reach standards on workplace conditions and human rights.

The other signatory members are Amana, Avon, Cutter & Buck, Dole Food, Eileen Fisher, Otto Versand, Toys R Us and the United Nations Office of Project Services.
