Burger King has announced plans to audit its meat and egg sourcing in the US against animal welfare guidelines including the American Meat Institute Good Management Practices for Animal Handling. The world’s second-largest fast food company, which is a Diageo subsidiary, has been under pressure from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to adopt new animal welfare standards. Burger King set up an animal wellbeing advisory council last autumn.
