 AccountAbility is seeking potential partners to contribute expertise and sponsor development of local language versions of the latest AA1000 Accountability Principles (AA1000AP, 2018) - its latest sustainability management framework and guidance document.

There’s increasing pressure on companies to provide verifiable evidence of positive impact and, where possible, quantifiable success. Companies are tasked with identifying meaningful data points, educating the business on the need to demonstrate trusted impact metrics and benchmark social and environmental impacts against peers.
 
At the recent Responsible Business Summit Europe, Ethical Corporation hosted two in-depth sessions that looked to provide actionable ideas covering these topics:
 

Global Compact Network Canada (GCNC), the Canadian network of the United Nations Global Compact, is hosting “Making Global Goals Local Business - Canada”, a two-day conference that aims to accelerate progress on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Canada, taking place on September 9^th & 10^th 2019 at the Globe and Mail Centre in Toronto.

Driven largely by economics, rising air pollution from vehicle emissions and new advances in technology, transportation is transforming and becoming more sustainable, competitive and innovative. U.S. sales of passenger electric vehicles have soared in the last decade. Now, as automakers prepare for mass production of a new line-up of medium- and heavy-duty electric vans, buses, delivery trucks and semi’s, smart fleet and sustainability managers are taking notice.

What are the most promising solutions for achieving carbon neutrality in Georgia?

Inspired by Project Drawdown, Georgia Drawdown is an initiative to review 100 global solutions and identify a short list of those solutions that are most relevant in Georgia. Launched by the Ray C. Anderson Foundation, Georgia Drawdown is led by Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia, and Emory University in conjunction with partners across the state.

It’s been reported that a regenerative approach to forests, water and land can represent a 30% of carbon savings by 2030. Companies are realising that one cost-effective way of tackling the climate crisis is by restoring and protecting the biodiversity of the planet.

The Soil Health Institute (SHI) has released PROGRESS REPORT: Adoption of Soil Health Systems, based on data from the 2017 U.S. Census of Agriculture. The analysis includes a state-by-state breakdown of changes in adoption from 2012 to 2017 for cover crops and no-till production.  Cover crop and no-till practices both support biological activity in the soil.  Cover crops are particularly effective at protecting water quality, and no-till is particularly effective at increasing carbon sequestration in soils.
